Hello, and welcome to my Curious Portraits tumblr. My name is Lisa Zador, and I'm a New York City–based artist. I love painting formal portraits of unusual things—whether it is a beloved pet or a cherished childhood toy I try to bring out the unique beauty of all of my subjects. At this tumblr, I'll feature some of the prints that I sell at my Etsy shop, Curious Portraits.

Some of the subjects belonged to me as a child and some are part of my ever expanding collection of vintage toys chosen for their individuality and gentle expressions. I hope that they bring the same joy and sense of nostalgia to you as painting them did for me.

This is the first in a series of still lives that I am doing of some of my collectibles. This is a painting of three of my vintage Westclox alarm clocks; a black Big Ben, a cream and tan Baby Ben and a gorgeous yellow Moonbeam. I just love falling asleep to the soothing sound of a ticking clock!
